GID-Meter Firmware Versions

Operation:
Tap the Red push-button to switch to the next Mode (group of variables).
Tap the Black push-button to switch to the next variable in the selected group.


F1.10 Download F1.10 Hex File (zipped)
This version Summary:
1. Adds Mode 4 to allow selecting the Brightness of the LED Display.
NOTE: This allows the firmware to support the Original, and the Replacement LED Display.
2. Adds Mode 5, to display Tire Pressures (psi) while driving.
3. Now, GIDs are read from the selected CAN bus, either EV-CAN or CAR-CAN.
NOTE: The tire pressures are only available from the CAR-CAN bus.

Mode 1: GID and SOC Data Mode
V1: GID-Percent: Shows the CAN-bus "GID" value as a percent of 281 (for example, " 81.1").
V2: GID-Raw: Shows the same "GID" value in its "raw" form (roughly " 0" to " 281").
V3: Real-SOC: Shows the "Real-SOC" percent with a "C" prefix (roughly "C 0.0" to "C95.0").
NOTE: The SOC is only displayed when the EV-CAN bus is Selected.

Mode 2: Battery Pack-Output Mode
V1: Amps-Out (for example, " 27.3"), where negative values are Amps-In (charging).
V2: Volts (for example, "387.3"), where values are typically between 300 and 400.
V3: Power-Out in kW (for example, "P24.3"), or Regen and Charging (for example, "C 8.3").
NOTE: The Amps, Volts, and Power are only displayed when using the EV-CAN bus.

Mode 3: LEAF Logging System Mode
V1: Displays "LLS " while logging to give the uP more time (if needed) to process CAN messages.

Mode 4: LED Display Brightness Selection Mode
V0-V9: Displays "LE-n" (n = 0-9) to select the display's Brightness Level.
When exiting this mode, the Level is saved in the internal EEPROM for later use.

Mode 5: Tire Pressure Mode
V1-V4: Displays a "wheel-location" icon, and (if valid) the associated Tire Pressure.
NOTE: The wheel-location might be incorrect, unless the wheels have been properly "located".
NOTE: Tire Pressure values are only displayed when using the CAR-CAN bus, otherwise "-.-".


F1.09 Download F1.09 Hex File (zipped)
This version:
1. Adds a third variable to Mode 1 to display "Real SOC".
2. Adds Mode 3, to NOT display variables while Logging.
3. Allows Mode 2 to display Amps >= 100.0 while charging.
4. Speeds up the Power-On boot-up process.

Mode 1: GID and SOC Data Mode
V1: GID-Percent: Shows the CAN-bus "GID" value as a percent of 281 (for example, " 81.1").
V2: GID-Raw: Shows the same "GID" value in its "raw" form (roughly " 0" to " 281").
V3: Real-SOC: Shows the "Real-SOC" percent with a "C" prefix (roughly "C 0.0" to "C95.0").

This version:
1. Adds Mode 2, to display three Battery Pack variables.

Mode 1: GID Data Mode
V1: GID-Percent: Shows the CAN-bus "GID" value as a percent of 281 (for example, " 81.1").
V2: GID-Raw: Shows the same "GID" value in its "raw" form (roughly " 0" to " 281").

Mode 2: Battery Pack-Output Mode
V1: Amps-Out (for example, " 27.3"), where negative values are Amps-In (charging).
V2: Volts (for example, "387.3"), where values are typically between 300 and 400.
V3: Power-Out in kW (for example, "P24.3"), or Regen and Charging (for example, "C 8.3").


F1.07 Download F1.07 Hex File (zipped)
This firmware displays the LEAF's GID (presumed "Fuel Quantity") number, in two formats.
The Red push-button does nothing.

Mode 1: GID Data Mode
V1: GID-Percent: Shows the CAN-bus "GID" value as a percent of 281 (for example, " 81.1").
V2: GID-Raw: Shows the same "GID" value in its "raw" form (roughly " 0" to " 281").


Note: The same firmware should be capable of doing one-buss Logging of CAN messages (when used with my free companion CAN-Do program, available on My CAN-Do Page ).



GID-Meter Kit

Our GID-Meter (or SOC-Meter) Kit is usually available in limited quantities, currently
for $170.00 plus $20 for insured (usually UPS) shipping in USA-48.

The in-forum Assembly Instructions are not fully complete or "debugged", so please use with caution. The Instructions documents here (below) are much better.

A Wiring Diagram, a Hole Template, and Log-Port Installation (PDFs) are also available below.
Please look over these documents carefully before you order.
Also, please ask any questions if the details or intent is not perfectly clear to you.

The Kits should only be purchased by those who have the necessary skills to build them.
Skills: Wire stripping, about 21 Solder connections, Cutting or Drilling holes in
the plastic Enclosure, Heating Shrink Tubing, Assembly, some Patience, and Instruction Reading.



Fully constructed SOC-Meters are available by order.
